Re: [APML] [OT] Meade RCX/Yankee 6303 at TSP
Hi, Jason,
"Marginal" for you would be fine for some of us. ;)
BTW, how do you like the new RCX? How sharp are the optics for imaging? Is
the focus stable? Is it easy to focus? (I'm thinking about refractor-like
ease of focus as compared to the standard SCT.) Are the optics mechanically
stable? Is the field sufficiently flat for today's larger imaging chips? Is
the field well illuminated? I talked to Scott Roberts at NEAF about the
possibility of Meade selling the OTA alone. He said that no decision had
been made on that subject but that he personally strongly favored it. He
clearly understood that the best imagers out there already have their own
high end mounts and would never be interested in the scope if they had to
buy it with the mount, too. FWIW (which ain't much), my general impression
from the conversation was that there was a better than even probability that
it would happen. Not sure I'd want one but I'm interested, depending on what
I hear from many users in answer to the sort of questions posed above. For
myself, TIA for any answers you'd care to give; I'm sure there are more than
a few interested folks out there.
