Re: [APML] OT: Comet Machholz at 9th mag
Duncan, mine is unmodified (bought for daytime work). The pic that was
published was in SkyNewsMagazine in the recent issue on digital SLR aurora
pics.
Serge Theberge uses an unmodified Rebel and they published his M33 in the
more recent article on deep sky pics with DSLRs so clearly even without the
mod very fine deep sky pics are possible.
Then there is Steve Cannistra who blows the lights out with his DSLR pics.
In the end though I agree with Chris that the comparison to purpose-built
ccd cameras shows that there is a reason we pay all that extra for a cooled
camera without the red cut-off problems.
