Re: [APML] Noise Reduction and LCD Monitors

Hi Chuck,

The current implementation of SGBNR in PixInsight LE is extremely powerful
for large-scale noise reduction. Here are side by side comparisons with your
images:

*** CED214

Comparison (original - SGBNR)

SGBNR parameters used (composite RGB mode)

*** Flame Nebula

Comparison (original - SGBNR)

SGBNR parameters (luminance/chrominance mode)

If you make a thorough comparison you'll find that local contrast and detail
are better preserved, while noise is better suppresed, especially in
background and low-contrast areas. With a previous wavelet transform (to
remove small-scale noise), the results would be even better.

Regards,

Juan
