Subject: Re: [APML] For Wei-Hao :) Will a
real astrophoto film please stand up.
Hi Wei-Hao :)
Let me know if it's these film that you used ( I scaned these box )
:
I bought these 2 films this afternoon at a store near my home
I hope it's the good stuff !
Thanks in advance !
Hi,
Thanks
to Bobby for refering to my site. In particular, this one
is by Centuria
800:
http://www.ifa.hawaii.edu/~wang/gallery/picutres/I2177-2004.htm
and
these two are by Centuria
400:
http://www.ifa.hawaii.edu/~wang/gallery/picutres/cygnus_tail.htm
http://www.ifa.hawaii.edu/~wang/gallery/picutres/m16_to_24.htm
The
last two show that Centuria 400 is not only sensitive to H-alpha
but also
has quite good tri-color balance. Bobby is right that
Centuria 800 is
grainy. Both Centuria 800 and 400 don't have the
fat-star problem that
E200 has. (Indeed, Provia 400F also has this
problem.) Earlier I had
posted a comparison for E200 and Centuria
800:
http://www.ifa.hawaii.edu/~wang/misc/E200vsC800.htm
I didn't
hyper either of them. I'm not sure if Centuria 800 is really
faster than
400. (They may have different reciprocity failure.)
The Centuria 400
I used to use is actually called Centuria Super 400.
It's now replaced by
Konica with Centuria Professional 400. The later
one has quite nice
results on comets but its H-alpha sensitivity is
still unknown. I'm
waiting for more test results from my Asian friends.
These Konica
films (400, 800) all have 120 format, but only available
in east Asia.
I'm thinking about improting some small amout to US for
people in this
list.
Cheers,
Wei-Hao
