RE: [APML] The Sky Pro version 6-disappointment

Hey Chris,
I just played with the mosaic feature since that is one of the main
features I use. It seems they have incorporated some of the things I
wanted. You can save the mosaic profile and re-open it later with the
field of view mosaic in place. In the prior version I could not save a
mosaic with field of view in the profile. I had to print with the
coordinates if I wanted to see the mosaic or save the "print screen"
image. The ability to save the mosaic field of view is nice. You can
rotate the field of view indicators to whatever angle you need. I
believe in the prior version you would rotate the sky to match your
desired camera orientation. This should work much better for anyone in
a live connection to the scope. You can input the number of frames of
overlap with the particular field of view indicator at the desired
center point of the mosaic and it will then draw the mosaic. Remember
in the older version how you had to draw the field of view with your
cursor and hope you have the field of view coverage you wanted in the
most efficient manner for your given scope/detector. Like you, I had
been unimpressed early, but the mosaic feature seems to be one that is a
definite improvement. I will probably uncover more as my experience
builds.

Best regards,

I got a look at it on Jim's system when I was in CA. Looks pretty but
it
locked up on me twice just inputting simple site data. So far, it seems
to
be a piece of you know what. Not impressive. I think I'll wait for a
service pack before I install it. Good old v5.0 runs like a dream.
