[APML] Film: Begining of the End?

Guys.

The trend I see is that film wont be around much longer, and most of us know that so we make the best of what we can with what is still left for our astro work. I still use E100 and E200 and yes, I can still get E400 in 120, but not the latter in 4x5.  Hypering?  still have my supa-dupa hyper tank I made, but has not been use for over 2 years since I've switched to digital, both in DSLR and CCD.    I still have a fridge full of colour and B/W film and will eventually use it up.. but its bloody hard to to do that when digital technology is sweeping us up faster than the click of a shutter button. Not too far away film will be as common as wind  up gramaphone.

Just look around you and see how many are using digital cameras. Kids growing up now are right into digital technology. Soon digital TV will replace what we have now, and just think how it will be 100 years from now there, sealed in nitrogegn filled glass window in a museum  some 35mm flm and an SLR camera and lens.     "..Oh look Charlie, look what they used way back then, plastic film in those funny looking cameras, that is _so_ primative.."

My latest shot of Omega Centauri was taken with the Canon 1Ds at full frame straight off the CF card.  Scope used was a  Konus two element F8 refr. with a Powermate 2x. Exp. was 10 mins. 3/4 of that was unguided (tracking was so good I got bored)    Camera settings: Sharpness set to 5; Noise reduction ON; Mirror lock up; and ISO to 800.   Seeing and Trans. were both 8/10. No other work was done on the image.www.big.net.au/~cosmos/gallery/5139

starlight to all..

Jim (Down Under and lovin it)
