RE: [APML] APML Gemini GoTo and Autoguiders???

Kent,

I have the MI250 and the STV calibrates and tracks.  The only problem I am having looks like it may be oscillation.  Before I got the MI250, I used the G11 for a short time with the STV.  I am  no expert with autoguiders, I use the auto functions on the STV, and the G11 was my first mount..  But I do remember that I had calibration problems with the G11.  I had the standard non Gemini version so I could increase the guide rate.  I increased the guide rate and the STV would then calibrate and track.  I know this doesn't solve your problem, but my experience supports your theory.

Subject: [APML] APML Gemini GoTo and Autoguiders???

Anybody using any Gemini GoTo system and autoguiders like the ST-4, STV, etc. for film imaging?
This could be the Gemini on the G-11, Titan, Mountain Instruments or Parallax, etc.

A friend of mine has a brand new (latest version) Gemini installed on a G-11 but it will not, either calibrate or track properly with an ST-4 or the STV. It will usually calibrate and track in RA but DEC is inconsistent.
All possible variations of the ST-4 C and H settings have been tried, along with variations in the TVC settings in the Gemini.

The maximum Guide rate for DEC in the Gemini is 0.8x the Sideral rate and it appears this is to slow to move the guide star an appropriate amount.

Any input?

Thanks,
Kent Kirkley
