Re: [APML] Comet Q4, M46, M47 & M93...
Hey Fellows...
Thanks for your replies! I'm a little behind on my response... after posting the 200mm image from last week, I slept a few and jumped in the car to try (in vain) to out run the clouds that have persisted here in the ATL.
I hoped to shoot again with Q4 flying by M44... no luck... even after driving down to Chiefland FL. *NICE* bino view from there... (thanks Joe Mize ;-) the tail looks better than ever, and brightness hasn't changed. Still a nice looking comet, and still very photogenic!

Thanks Dom... all the relatively short (3 - 5 1/2 minutes) exposures I did last week with the 'Supra' 400 had a strong blue cast. It's as if the blue layer takes off quick, and the red and green 'catch up' later... when you expose longer. The blue saturation is even more noticeable on the compressed Web versions than the TIFF files. The 1500x1000 Web version doesn't look quite so saturated either, at least on my monitor. Thanks for the input :-)

Thanks Nicola... hope the weather improves there so you can turn your 200mm toward it!

Thanks Teo... yes, 5 1/2 minutes, ISO 400 at f4. After scanning/noise reduction/ color converting the negative, the image was naturally very low contrast. Post-processing brought up all that was 'hiding' in there. After this new moon, I will finish the online guide, which will explain how I'm doing this 'stretching'.

Thanks Rob... you always offer kind words and encouragement to many here at APML, regardless of where they are on the equipment/learning curve... not to mention images that are sheer inspiration!

Thanks Stuart... you enthusiasim gives all of us here support and encouragement, too!
Keep shootin' this comet guys... it really hasn't begun to dim noticeably, yet !!!
Best... :o)
