[APML] C/2001 Q4 observation from Italy
Hi list,
finally, tonite the clouds have given me some relief. I succeeded in
viewing the comet for the first time tonite from northern Italy . Here are
the details:
Location: Genoa, Italy (Lat + 44°24', Long. 8°56' east), pop. 600000
Time: 09.40 pm CEST (=GMT + 2)
Azimuth (CW from north): ~235°
Height: ~15°
Description:
Tiny eastward-elongated smudge about 5° south/southeast of alpha
monocerotis, contained in the same field of view of a pair of 7x50
binoculars. Slightly brighter than Alpha Mon (3.9 mag.), which puts it
around mag. 3.5. Only a hint of a tail, maybe it will put up a better show
as it moves to higher declinations during next days. On the whole, quite
disappointing so far.
Emmanuele
