Personally I would not go with the ST-V unless you need to dump the computer
requirement. If computer control is not a problem I would recommend an
ST-237a as a guider. It's less expensive than an ST-V, lighter than the
ST-7 and for me it guides much better than the -V. Of course there is
nothing wrong with using the ST-7 except, as you said, the size.
Just my nickels worth.
