RE: [APML] OT: Suggestions for common astro imaging mounts
Actually I would start with the Meade base. Yes, I know
that few people would likely bring one but IIRC it gives
you the largest surface area. Then I would make an
adapters for the APs and Taks.

Subject: [APML] OT: Suggestions for common astro imaging mounts
Hi,
I am advising an astro inn in Chile on a pier design they would
like to place on site. I am suggesting AP900/1200 hole patterns for
their piers as the most common. Does anyone here have other
opinions? What this means is that anyone with an AP900/1200 mount
would not have to bring their pier if they plan to use this site for
imaging. They are planning to make 6-9 piers available for public
use. I am also considering the Paramount ME but this mount has a
larger base so one could consider bringing an adaptor to mate the ME
to the AP1200 holes.
I would also like to get opinions on pier heights. If we build 9
piers, I am currently suggesting 6 piers of height 30" and 3 of
height 48 inches for the visual guys.
I am in the middle of setting up a website with my experiences of
imaging from this Chilean location. It will be up shortly.
I posted this on the SBIG users group as well.
Loke
