RE: [APML] Best lens for Pentax 6x7?
Rick,
I think you are definitely using the right equipment. My advice is to
select the field of view that will be your “workhorse” and save up and
buy the lens that meets those needs. So much can be done with just one
lens. Do you do landscape or portraits? I would factor those into the
decision as well. The 165 is very versatile from portraits to landscape
to astrophotography. The 55 is more limited in that you really need a
great dark sky to fully utilize that lens to its fullest. The 55mm is
also great if you have macro landscapes that need that field of view.
Best wishes on your purchase and whatever lens you decide on, it will
work just fine for astrophotography.
Best regards,
Jeff Ball

I have just stepped up to med format, pentax 6x7 non mlu [I'm poor] I
have made a 300mm f5 achro doublet from surplus copier stuff, soon to
see first light and lots of color. but have no other lenses. Comet fever
has struck so the cat and dog are up for sale.
It seems the Archives give the 165mm f2.8 a thumbs up, but out of my
budget Max 150.00
but what about 90mm/2.8
105mm/2.4
200mm/4
55mm/4
55mm/3.5
of these others which are good for AP, I'm watching Ebay for bargains
