[APML] A Pair of Bradfields
We have seen some great comet images over the last week - thanks for
posting everyone! I am a bit surprised that the Schmidt camera guys have
been so unusually quiet during this comet. What happened to Kent, Robert and
Chris? I gave it a shot this morning - what a tough shot! The moon is really
interfering now, the comet really seems to be fading going by the posted
images from earlier in the week. I was also surprised by how fast the sky
brightens at this time of year and didn't have time to load any colour film.
Bracketing was also a challenge but at least one shot turned out well.
Processing was a pig! Gradients are huge, you can even see different layers
of "stuff" near the horizon. There was a scratch on the film, a
satellite/meteor, water marks (oops!) and some artefacts from the scanner
trying to pull an image from such a dense negative. Still, I hope you enjoy
the image, taken with an 8" Schmidt camera.
I also included an older colour image from another Bradfield
discovery, from almost 17 years ago. That equipment list might bring a tear
to the eye of the older imagers in the crowd.... ;-)
