RE: [APML] Four Schmidt Shooters
Hello All,
The local guy here (Peter Fassler) said he knew Hans personally and
that he got it from him. He said it had been modified in Germany (by Ziess
for travel back and forth to Africa).
Steve.

Steve et al:
Andreas Phillip, a German 'amateur astronomer' had numerous Celestron
Schmidt
cameras in 5 1/2, 8 and 14 inch sizes. At one time he intended to set up
several observatories for minor planet and comet searches. A few years ago
he
decided to not go thru with the project and sold off the Schmidt's.
Joseph Sylvan of Las Cruces, NM and Loke Tan got the two 14 inch Schmidt's,
but as far as I know, only Joseph Sylvan's was Hans Vehrenbergs original
instrument. Bill Matill, here in Dallas, got Vehrenberg's 8 inch instrument.
Kent Kirkley
8 inch Celestron-Epoch Schmidt
