Andrew, there are many more experienced astrophotographers on this list 
than me but since I too am a beginner, I would recommend a used 
SuperPolaris (or the newer GreatPolaris) mount with Vixen motors (mine 
has CG-5 motors and they're fine but the Vixen's are better). You see 
them on Astromart all the time (see link below). There is one posted 
just now on the Canadian site (link below, no motors or tripod but a 
brand new, unused, GP - there are tripods galore for sale on Astromart 
too).
My older SuperPolaris mount is a dream - smooth action, trivial to polar 
align (you'll need a polar alignment scope), light weight and can carry 
all the camera stuff you could imagine putting on it. You can buy an 
inexpensive refractor to use as a guidescope for longer focal length 
lenses but I never guide my wide-angle shots - I can go 15 minutes with 
24mm and 50mm lenses no problem.
