[APML] New Image M101
Hi all,
Lots of superb M101 images posted lately inspired me this rainy weekend to finish up
one set I took back in June 2002. I concentrated on showing the 3 very faint arms
hardly seen on images of this object on the opposite side of the huge assymetric arms
most visible in images of this object. M101 is a surprisingly big object. I thought I
framed it well initially but discovered it still wasn't in the right place to capture all it's
extremities. The image field is 25 x 38 arc minutes.
The images were taken with my 20" f/5 Newt and FLI IMG6303E camera all in 2x2 bin
mode in 2.9 arc sec seeing with 8 transparency skies. The image is an LRGB of
96:36:36:36 minute respective exposures with an image scale of 1.5arcsec/pixel.
