Now I have heard 'curves' mentioned thousands of time on this group and
therefore understand it is quite important. I just have to find out what it
does:) Thanks for the tip, I will now go and have a look see.

Michael,
Elements is a powerful program that has most of what
you need to get started in Astrophotography, but with
a few important exceptions. For instance, it doesn't
have a curves function, which is indispensible (for
non-astrophotography as well). But there is a
separate product called "Hidden Power of Photoshop
Elements" by Richard Lynch that solves this problem-
it adds curves plus a bunch of other Photoshop
functions (like masks etc) to Elements, and it's about
$29.00 (I purchased mine form Amazon.com). So for
about 29.00 you get almost everything that you could
get with Photoshop, but without paying $600!
