Re: [APML] Mr.Zangs comment
Speaking of image scale with an SCT, I'd like to
direct the group's attention to the following entry
in the SCT Imaging contest, open to members of the
Yahoo! SCT mailing list (see contest rules). I'm *not*
trying to discredit the photo - it's a fine one! -
or the photographer, just to point out another
apparent discrepency in scale vs. focal length.
The object is M45, with all of the seven sisters in
the 35-mm frame. But the info says it was taken with
a 10" Meade f/10 SCT *at f/10*. I stress the "at f/10"
because I am really suprised M45 would fit in the
frame at this focal length. Now, he does say he used
a Lumicon GEG, so perhaps he simply forgot that he
he was also using the companion Lumicon focal
reducer. That's got to be the explanation. I'd
e-mail the photographer to ask, but I couldn't find
his e-mail address among the 2800+ members of that
group!
