The Aurora is the absolutely best of the lot because of its size, weight, and
bright adjustable output. Since I do most of my AP alone, I've been using
it despite its white output. The taillight LED can be set MUCH brighter than
the Aurora, but is nowhere near as compact.

I called Princeton Tech, Petzl, Astro Lights, and the folks at Orion, but
couldn't drum up any interest whatsoever in making a red LED headlamp.

I don't understand why everyone makes rectangular lights like the Skylight
by Rigel, but no headband lamps. I can't begin to count the hours I've spent
with a MiniMag Light held in my teeth while camping or fishing. REI even
sells a plastic "bite a grip" end for the MiniMag.

At least they could invent flavored grips!

Please drop me a note off line about how you got the circuit board out of
the Aurora without destroying it. I'd like to try replacing the white LEDs
with red ones.

Cheers--Steve
