[APML] new monitor

Greetings everyone,

I am finally catching back up to the world after the Texas Star Party.

And congratulations to list member Kirk Carbo for wining the Best Deep Sky
catagory in the astrophoto contest at TSP. Kirk, tell Judi i said "Hi".

I tried to print some photos I took at the Texas Star Party and I could not
get the prints to match what I was seeing on the monitor. For some time I
have suspected my monitor was out of whack. It seems darker and more color
mutted than I remember, plus it is 9 years old, so I figured it was just too
tired to work right. I bit the bullet and went over to CompUSA expecting to
get drug over the coals in buying a new monitor. I was pleasantly surprized
and thought I would pass along the news that they now have 19-inch ViewSonic
CRTs for about $230 after rebate (before taxes). I hooked up with a flat
screen Ultrabrite A90f+ and set it up at 1200X1600 resolution. I am
amazed. This thing is great! I never realized what a POS my old monitor
had become in its old age. I have been having blast all evening looking at
old imagery and seeing how it "really" looks. If you are needing a new
monitor soon, take a look at one of these. You can't complain about the
price and the image is great.
