Holy smokes... how about an
easier way... use the select>color range tool to select all the stars... if
you pick up any areas that you don't want, delete them with the lassoo tool...
now grow the selection by six pixels, feather by three... reverse the
selection... stars and adjacent areas are protected... sharpen the rest of the
image.
