Ironic you mentioned this...RoboScope has been debating the same subject. It boiled down to what a Celestron Tech stated.
"We use Dow Corning BR2+ grease on the primary baffle tube. The main
thing you want to look for is a grease that will not run in high
temperatures and does not freeze or thicken up in cold weather."

For obtaining the minimum mirror flop in astrophotos, I'd like to regrease the
baffle tube of my Meade 8" SC (2080b), but I need to know what type of grease to
use. My idea is to substitute the original one. Can you recommend a specific
model, ie from Molykote greases?
