Hey Al... after trying a couple of different programs for this, I found
probably the best of the bunch... Freesurfer... and, as the name implies -
it's :::free::: !!! This one is 'smart' - blocking the hassle windows, yet
allowing important ones to open!

Example: Both TV Guide and TWC use pop-ups for info windows as well as
advertising. It blocks the ads, but lets the info pop-ups open... without
any 'blacklisting' or other programming on your part! Just download, install
and enjoy. This one works quitely, but you can get .WAV files from the support
site to add sound when it zaps one of these pests... it's your choice. There is
a charge for the 'Deleuxe' version, and they will accept donations from
freeware users... but there's no problem using the standard version without
charge... no spyware, no ad banners, no spam, no hassles.

Get it here: http://www.kolumbus.fi/eero.muhonen/FS/Support.htm It also has
other features such as a cache cleaner, and is customizeable to suit each users
needs. AFAIK... the freeware version is for IE only, can't say if the advanced
version supports other browsers. Mine is set up to open with the OS... anytime
my machine is running, so is Freesurfer!

BTW... 'SPAM' is any junk or unsolicited e-mails, typically advertising but
occasionally con-games or other scams. The name came from the Monty Python skit
that includes the recurrent tag line: 'But I don't like Spam !'... (computer
nerds... jeez :-)

 Best...
