Congrats on getting the Schmidt! Get ready for astrophotography in the
fast lane. :-) I am all too familiar with that little screw you mention. If
you look at the base of each spider leg where they join the ring, you will
find two slotted screw heads and one hole - one per spider vane. The screw
will most likely be the same size as the other two and fit in the hole. Now
the bad news. These screws are used to collimate the secondary/film holder.
Hopefully I am wrong and you have just found a screw used to hold the door
on, but I have my doubts. I had the same problem, centering the secondary is
critical but not that difficult. Hopefully this is one of the tips that
Robert Reeves will be putting up on his web site. Once you get it set up, be
sure to dab the screws with silicone or contact cement, to stop them from
unscrewing in the future. Hopefully I am wrong.
