I'm disturbed by these turn of events.  There are definitely higher-quality
scopes available than those offered by Meade and Celestron, but none quite
as affordable.  I got my start with a Celestron scope (as I'm sure many on
the list have as well).  I wonder what future astronomers/astrophotographers
will be offered should one company be allowed to dominate the market.
