[APML] optimize scanning [was: noise]

I think if you do that, it helps to flip/rotate the film for each scan. 
That way the pixel response variations will even out.

I wonder if anyone has tried taking dark frames and flats with a scanner to 
calibrate images.

I don't do any of the above for scanning. I think a good scanner doesn't 
benefit much from it.
