Re: [APML] Another processing challenge

here´s my attempt:

BTW: I think the image is very well executed. After seen the original scan
up close, some questions came to my mind: Is the 200mm a f/4 lens? What
mount did you use? What autoguider - if any? What scanner?

with best regards

Hi Dave,
Thank you for your input. I quite like your version. Its shows
the nebulosity very well. What did you do to get the result? I tried to get
that result but the contrast went too high and looked ugly.

Monte

  Monte,

I'm not really very good at this, but I thought I'd give it a shot. Only
had time to spend a few minutes on the processing and I used the JPG
version. (Bandwidth challenged) Here is the result.

    Hi Guys,
Following on from Matt's LMC. I thought I would throw this
one in for anyone who is interested.

It is a shot of the Scorpius Milky way taken with a 6x7 Pentax on E200,
200mm lens @f5.6 60 mins - push 1/2 stop.

The scan is a monster file so I am posting a small JPG version of it. A
pro lab did the scan so I don't know the type of scanner used but I guess it
is reasonably good one.

The detail is good but the colours are a bit dull and when I try to
bring them up with PS 5 the shot becomes a bit to contrasty and loses it's
detail.

The file is 587kb and is about 2000x1600 in size.

    Go to http://www.tradepart.com/techinfo/origmilkyway.jpg

I only have PS but if someone has some real whizbang software that does
the trick, I would love to see the result and know what was done.

    Many thanks

    Monte
