Alan,

It's easier than PW. You open the two files. Select "register" and watch it 
do all the work. Then select "combine". Select both images and  the 
combination method (e.g. average). Save the resulting image and you're done.

RegiStar does have a bunch of options, but I pretty much do just the above 
most of the time. You can try out the above (except the saving part) with 
the free eval.

Bear in mind that mosaicking is a LOT more difficult than plain stacking, 
in large part because you usually need to anti-vignette and color-match the 
images. However, that is just as hard whether you use RegiStar or PW.
