Thanks to both of you for your kind comments.  If I did carry the AP 6-inch to Nepal, I would have also had to take a large supply of Diamox to prevent high altitude sickness.  As for you two guys, you're lucky to already live in scenic areas.  What better structures could there be for an astronomical background than Stonehenge and the Golden Gate Bridge?

That is a great image!  (Couldn't you run over there to repeat it with the planet line-up <VBG>?)  I'm relieved to read that you didn't carry the AP 6 inch all the way to the mountain; just carrying that 300mm lens must have been enough! Considering all the other great scenics you have on your site, you can keep busy for the next 40 years making beautiful composites like this one. Congratulations!

Inspired by the photos "Moonrise Over Hernandez" and Tony Hallas' " Hale-Bopp Over Mono Lake", I have posted a composite photo of "M33 Over Mt. Machhapuchare".  I used an Astrophysics 6-inch F/7 refractor and hypered Fujicolor 100 film for M33 and Kodochrome-64 with a 300 mm lens for 23,000 ft Mt. Machhapuchare.  The sky was from a separate photo of the region between M33 and M31 (120-PPF film, Pentax 165 mm lens).  I "pasted into" both the starry sky and M33 over the blue sky around the mountain.  The image is of course unnatural, but is a first step.  It is a shame that terrestrial photos have not been linked to our "routine, same old thing" astrophotos.
