Re: [APML] Processing Challenge: LMC (I guess I'm first)

Alright Matt, here's my inital results and boy what a pain in my ass!!!
That vignetting was the worst, the color cast wasn't as hard. The hardest
part for me was the color balance of the younger stars in the galaxy. The
image became quite noisy very quickly and I did a little noise reduction so
my posted image may slightly fuzzy. The magenta tint on the upper right and
lower left of the galaxy was also a complete pain. Overall I don't think
it's too bad considering that I haven't been doing this for very long, what
do you think??? With more work I think I might be able improve it a bit but
Star Wars comes out tomorrow at midnight and I won't be able to work on
anything for a couple days. I'll be spending all my spare time at the movie
theater. Yup, I'm a nerd.

Daniel

Also below is a link to a processed version of the image. I chose this image
because I could not make it look as nice as I want. I am hoping that y'all
will show me a thing or two with it. That said, this is a difficult image.
It has major vignetting and red fogging (probably from film age and or
humidity). If you're new to image processing, this is a tough image to start
with.

crop your version.

help this one a lot.

(especially me) will want to know what you did in gory detail.

bother with it. If you're on a 56K modem, it will take at least half an hour
to download. I downloaded the image and opened it in Photoshop to test its
validity.
