My friend Daniel Verschatse just bought a Pentax 600mm f/4 and tried it for 
astro. First you must realize that securing such a lens to a mount in a 
flexure-free way is not trivial. Also, even though they're expensive, these 
lenses do tend to have chromatic aberration that will show up even on color 
film. You may be able to partially repair that using RegiStar. Daniel is 
keeping his Traveler.

I've never heard of a focal reducer for Pentax lenses, and even if there 
were one, it would probably vignette.
