Thanks!  the star was not a problem in my case because of the ABG on my 
ST-8E.  ABG is a mixed blessing but it can certainly help in some 
situations.  The ST-10E is not available with ABG (unless that has changed 
recently) so I can understand the need to work around the problem.  Anyway, 
looks like you handled it OK!
