I shoot many darks and median combine
them, same with the flats. I only use curves and levels in Photoshop to post
process after reduction, and I median combine wherever possible. I have tried to
stay away from any "automatic" processes... I suspect they clip the
data.
The same concepts that apply to reducing film grain
pretty much apply to CCD imaging... there's just a few more steps over in "the
dark side..." Why is it called "the dark side" anyway? Do you start to look like
Darth Vadar after using one of these things?
