Matt: A few decades ago, while on an auto trip through Illinois on a
dark night, I came upon a most dramatic sight: Fireflies by the
billions, responding to my vehicle passing by, rose in waves like those
in the ocean-except in reverse-forming the greatest terrestrial light
show I've ever witnessed.  A massive hatch, indeed.  

No, I wasn't using herbs, but your picture seems rather conservative
when set against that memory.  Stephen
