I'm an astrophotographer, not a graphic artist. But I took a shot at fabricating a firefly scene. It is a composite of trees from a star trail shot, a mostly featureless wide field shot, plus some fake fireflies. 

Yes, I know that flying fireflies leave short trails, but I think I like it better without firefly trails.
