RE: [APML] Sky-watcher

Is this the same scope Orion sells as Astroview rich field refractor 120/f5?
I was also thinking to buy it but the tests are looking quite bad.
Thanks,
Fabrizio

Hi Albert,

I own a 120/600mm Skywatcher. It is a wonderful scope for wide field visual
work but it is crap when it comes to astrophotography.
Some while ago I did some test shots with it to check if it would be ok for
astrophotography. The result of my test can be found here:

http://a.roerig.bei.t-online.de/test/ecke1.jpg

http://a.roerig.bei.t-online.de/test/mitte.jpg

It is a 10 minute exposure on TP2415hyp. The first image shows the raw scan
resized to 20%. The second is the corner of the frame in original size and
the third is the middle of the frame in original size.

The scope might be ok for CCD with small chips. In fact I did a shot of
Ikeya-Zhang with it (also on my homepage) but for 35mm frame it is no good.

Best regards
  Andreas
