Well, I'm not about to compare it with some (most) of the equipment
people here seem to be using. But the nice H-alpha photos are
certainly within the realm of possibility with a good mount. Pretty
much *any* narrow-band photography is within the realm of possibility
even with an achromat since you are filtering out the part that
doesn't focus. I seem to recall a message by Roland Christen about
how you could in principle even using a singlet so long as you weren't
worried about matching scale between images.
And the only reference to a picture using one of these scope is
http://mysky.org/mysky/?article_get=1&article=2:46943 done my Fred
Herrmann and it was taken with an ST8. I don't know if he was the one
who posted several pictures or if it was someone else.

You'll get no arguments from me on this one. My wife is a physician
and I'm trained as a physicist. Between the two of we could easily
fill a book with all the goofy ideas people have proposed to
use---usually looking for support!
