IIRC there's a couple places in Alpine that do 1-hour processing.  It 
is less than an hour away and a pretty drive at that.  Look around the
college area, not the "old" downtown.

It should work fine.  I've done plenty of field E-6 processing.  A 
microwave comes in _very_ handy for a quick boost of temperature,
though.
