RE: [APML] Astrophotography blues

I had to ponder over this one for a while. At first I could see my self in the position of "throwing money" at astrophotography. But the more I thought about it the more I realized that I HAVE taken the long slow path. After four years of astrophotography I am only average (at best) and STILL consider myself a beginner. I have quietly lurked around APML and other lists for a long time and every move in terms of equipement or the next step (leap?) in astrophotography has been a mixture of a lot of research followed a lot impulse (sound familiar?). I dream of being able to walk to my roll off observatory under mag 7 skys flip on the switches of that permanently mounted astrophotographic beast, aim it at a target, trip the shutter and end up with that awesome S&T cover shot an hour later. Well, I am a LONG way from mag 7 skys or the cover of S&T, but I keep trying AND keep throwing money at it. The real frustration starts when all of the trying and the money doesn't result in any!
improvement or worse yet things get worse. That is where I currently find myself. So I find myself having the Astrophotography Blues at the moment. Details and a lot questions for the group to follow in the coming days...
