RE: [APML] Astrophotography blues

Hi all,

I think this guy represents what the average guy entering astrophotography
expects. That astrophotography is fairly easy. Many find out it is not, and
that it requires practice and patience.
I myself was one of these "average" guys. My first telescope was a Meade
4.5" on a eq mount. All I thought I needed was to get a motor drive and
camera, and presto!! I will be published every month in various
magazines...WRONG!!! After getting some books on astrophotography and
joining this list many, many moons ago. I found out it is going to long road
to get the top.
The challenges in astrophotography is what keeps me pursuing this. As a
Machinist who works with tight tolerances and difficult problems to
overcome, this is an added bonus, the challenge.
Lastly, I for one am personally proud of the level I have attained so far.
On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the best, I rate myself around 5-6. Or the
middle of the pack. I still have a ways to go to reach the top, but once I
get there, I know I will have earned it.

just my 2cents
