New England is humid. Hypered color film can be shot in dry environments (Arizona) with no purging.

Hypered Tech Pan is extremely hydrophilic, and some form of desiccation needs to be used. When it absorbs moisture, it will buckle, especially in medium and large formats. Purging is one way to do desiccate. Rajiv Gupta's homemade 120 camera has room for a large desiccant pack. I heard that Scott Justis just places a plastic bag around his 35mm camera with desiccant.

I like the method that Herm Perez and John Boudreau use: a cheap battery-powered aquarium pump forces air through a drying tube into the camera. That is inexpensive, portable and easy to set up.
