[APML] Astro-Physics Equipment-Mounting Method???

Hello:
I've been using a G-11 mount for four years and have a number of my OTA's
mounted with Losmandy plates. I recently acquired a previously owned
Astro-Physics
155/ 1200GTO system which uses AP's 15inch ribbed plate and rings. This is a
very nice and sturdy mounting system, but is bolted to the mount head. For
ease in packing and transportation I prefer a dovetail type system.

What experience has anyone had in this respect?
Of course, the Losmandy system is very extensive and AP makes a mounting
plate (saddle) to accept the Losmandy plates. AP's system uses narrower
sliding bars.

For mounting accessories (finders, guidescopes, etc.) on top of the rings,
what are the pro's and con's of the two systems???

Thanks,
Kent Kirkley
