I use a fourth choise. On my takahashi TSC-225 (9" f/12 SCT) I use the
Lumicon Newtonian Easy Guider. It's very ligth, and you can fit it on 2"
focuser of all telescopes. The prism is larger than in Celestron or Meade
off axis guiders (more bright guide stars). In the front of the off axis
guider and after the prism, there are two thread to screw 48mm filters
(filters for 2" eyepieces). I use it since many years. I think it's the best
choise if you don't want to take pictures with focal reducer.
For your C8, you must use a 2" adaptator instead of your 1"1/4. You can find
it at Lumicon or Astrophysics ...
