I do the same and there's another reason to not bother with Long unless
the ST-4 cannot see a star. The Short mode uses a 9x9 track box. If you
use a pixel size of 15um, at 3000mm that comes out to a 9.3x9.3 arcsecond
box. IMO if you go outside a box that big the photo is ruined.
