Re: [APML] Another tech pan Q: (developing, etc.)

Ninety seconds sounds almost too short, but the easy way to
tell is to take an undeveloped piece of film ( just pull some fresh
film off of the roll before loading it into the camera) and place it
in the fixer. You can do all of this in day light. Measure how long
it takes for the film to turn clear. Kodak recommends that you
double this time to make sure all of the undeveloped silver
halide is removed.

I have run this test many times over the years to make sure
that my fixer was "fresh" enough to use. Different films take
different amounts of time to clear. Tech Pan is fast and will
appear clear ( even when the fixer isn't fresh ) in about 90
seconds using Kodafix. So if you doubled it, 3 minutes.
Kodak Rapid Fix is a little quicker (maybe what Bobby is
using).

If you were using Rapid Fix, I would guess that 8 minutes
might remove some of the developed silver. I have left
prints in the fixer for a long time before, and they fade away.
