Alan, 

While looking at the DBE view (i.e. the current view in the box), I
tweak the tolerance value to remove as much of the "grain" noise as
possible (i.e. those black pixels that are really grain noise, not
stars). I believe the goal as to capture just the stars.  Correct me
if I'm wrong Carlos or Juan.

Excellent observation.  It makes sense to do it this way; otherwise,
you're vignetting pattern would remain.
