Re: [APML] determining thread sizes?

 Hey Dan...

Most camera/astro accessory threads are standardized, and given common names such as 'T-thread' or '2" eyepiece' thread etc. Most of these are metric.

Generically speaking, the size dimension of a screw is based on the OD of the *male* thread componet, both standard and metric. The thread count, or 'pitch' is the number of threads per unit of measure... threads per inch, standard... threads per milimeter, metric.

A thread pitch gauge, which looks like a collection of miniature saw blades, is used to accurately determine the pitch of a screw thread... these gauges work on all male threads, and any female thread large enough in diameter for the gauge to enter.

 Hope This Helps...   : - )

Hi,

Can someone please tell me how to determine thread sizes for the various lens & adaptors out there?

How are they actually measured, I’m assuming with like calipers, in millimeters?

Thanks

Dan K.
