Juan,

That's awesome!  Obviously, I still have a lot to learn in PI.  I
haven't quite got the knack of using PI curves.  I'm more
comfortable in PS, but I guess I will have to force myself to learn
PI.  The thing that was giving me problems was after the background
subtraction, the black point would be too high (i.e. rather than
18,18,18 it would become 45,45,60).  I wasn't quite sure how to
correct this and still maintain a balanced image.  I will study your
curves and continue to experiment.  It also doesn't help being
red/green color blind.  Unfortunately, I have to pay more attention
to the numbers than the look.

I really appreciate your help.
