Re: [APML] Slide to print
I want a print made to toss in to the scrap book I have of all my
astrophoto's. The nearest place that develops slides is about an hour drive
but If I could take a picture of the slides with print film I could take
that to the local wallmart or local photoshop to make prints (both 5 minute
from here).
I asked the same question to my astronomy club mailing list and I got a
response back about the local photoshop being able to scan the post
developed slides and make prints. So, I guess I'm all set now:-)
Thanks,

Michael:
Copying 35mm film images on film is relatively easy.
There are/were various ways and devices to do this.
Basically you have to illuminate the image to be copied evenly and with the
correct color light.
The lens used will have to be moved a long way from the film to be copied
onto, either by bellows or extension tubes. Close-up (+) lenses can be used
but
sharpness will suffer.
While you can use your 'regular-normal' 50mm (?) lens, it was not designed
to
work as a copy lens and will not be very sharp. One appraoch is to turn it
around (using appropriate rings and adapters)
and it will be sharper.
I guess I want to ask, why do you want to copy a slide onto print film?
The obvious answer is to make a print, but this can be done at a photolab
for
less than the hardware and testing required to do it yourself. Or.....you
can
just digitally (there's that word) scan the slide and make a print.
