Re: [APML] OT: Light Pillars in Orion w DSLR
Very nice image Stuart !!!
It's surprising how the light pillars can be similar to an aurora ! ;) I saw a light pillar one time and it was very similar to the rays of a northern lights except for the movements !!
For the bands , try to downsize your image at 50% each time ( like the star trails to avoid breaking trails ) ... maybe that could help !?
Thanks for sharing !
Dom :)

Hey all - this is OT because I used my DSLR but I hope people will like this. It was only -8C so I
was not expecting light pillars to form. I checked the web for aurora and it showed all quiet. I
was out imaging in the observatory and saw this display in the West. I was certain it was aurora as
it was so strong. Didn't come through too well in the pic but visually it was really beautiful.
Taken with my Nikon D70 - 30 seconds at f3.5 and ISO200 (in error - was supposed to be ISO1600).
